LAHORE: Meher Kashif Younis, the Honorary Consul of Kyrgyzstan in Lahore, stated on Sunday that all medical students enrolled in Bishkek are secure and well-protected, and that total tranquilly has been restored in and around all dorms and surrounding areas.
He stated that the Lahore consulate is in contact with Kyrgyzstan authorities, the Pak-Kyrgyz Entrepreneurs Council, led by Ch Amin, and leaders of Kyrgyz and Pakistani businessmen in a statement released in response to the attack on Pakistani students. According to him, local business owners and law enforcement are working together to ensure a peaceful environment by having police and law enforcement patrol the affected regions. He said that 50 businessmen from Kyrgyzstan and Pakistan visited all of the hostels and areas where Pakistani students are housed, particularly the girls, and made sure their safety was a top priority. He also mentioned that Pakistan Ambassador Hasan Zaigham is actively involved in student assistance and rescue efforts.
