ISLAMABAD According to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Pakistan can see three heatwaves in different cities during the course of the next 25 days.
The first heatwave is predicted to hit Umarkot, Tharparkar, Tando Allahyar, Matiari, and Sanghar in Sindh, as well as Bahawalpur and Rahimyar Khan in south Punjab, according to the NDMA.
According to the NDMA, the first heatwave might linger for two to three days, from May 15 to May 30, with temperatures in those cities potentially reaching 40 degrees Celsius.
The second heatwave, which could see temperatures as high as 45C, is predicted by the NDMA to last four to five days in late May or early June.
The first ten days of June are predicted to see the third heatwave. It further said that Tharparkar, Umarkot, Sanghar, Badin, and Khairpur will be affected by this heatwave.

On May 8, the Punjab Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) issued a warning about a rise in temperature that could cause a heatwave in the region.
The PDMA predicted that between May 8 and 10, the temperature would increase by three to five degrees Celsius. In a statement, the government agency stated that "South Punjab is likely to receive heavy rains from May 10 to May 11" and that thunderstorms were predicted to occur in most of Punjab's districts. Thunderstorms pose a threat to numerous crops across the province, according to PDMA Director General Irfan Kathia, who advised the public to exercise caution in light of the anticipated heatwave and heavy rainfall. The source had further stated, "The district administrations throughout Punjab have been informed about the weather situation."
