The Khaleej Times, citing an email it examined on Monday between the airline CEO and staff, announced that the Emirates Group had given its workers a bonus equivalent to twenty weeks' worth of pay.
This event coincides with the news that Emirates Group broke its own record for the second consecutive year with yearly profits of $5.1 billion on Monday, up 71 percent.
It stated that group profits over the last two years reached $8.1 billion, exceeding the losses recorded during the pandemic-hit 2020–2022, citing robust client demand.
According to the Khaleej Times article, the employees would receive the refund along with their May wage.
The story also stated that Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, the Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group, thanked the staff for their "heroic efforts" in an email.
The report also stated that he praised their commitment, saying, "You deserve every dirham of the 20-week profit share, for powering our collective ambitions and for achieving them."
Due to notable profit and revenue improvements for Emirate and Dnata over the past year, the group's overall workforce increased by 10% to 112,406, marking their greatest workforce to date.
The workers represent more than 170 different nationalities and are dispersed throughout 84 countries.
According to a Khaleej Times report, an Emirates employee said, "I was hoping and praying for the payouts."
"I am ecstatic. Not as much as it was the previous year, but a bonus is a bonus. The business is not required to provide it. However, they have, and quite a bit. I'm overjoyed about it.
A 24-week bonus was given to Emirates staff members last year in recognition of yet another record-breaking achievement.
The group's cash balance increased 11% from the previous year to AED 47.1 billion, the biggest amount ever disclosed.
Emirates has already eliminated the significant $5.5 billion deficit from the previous year, when it was obliged to halt its fleet and lay off employees, as well as the $1.1 billion loss from 2021–2022.
