In the second Twenty20 International in Dublin on Sunday, Pakistan defeated Ireland by seven wickets, securing a decisive encounter in the three-match series. After being sent to bat, Ireland got off to a fast start, scoring 29 runs in the first three overs for the home team. However, Ireland's attack was halted by Shaheen Shah Afridi, who removed opening duo Paul Stirling and Andrew Balbirnie in the fourth over. For the third wicket, Lorcan Tucker and Harry Tector (32) had a 62-run partnership, with the former scoring 51 off of 34 deliveries.

After George Dockrell (15) and Curtis Campher (22) increased the score, Gareth Delany (28 off 10 balls) helped the hosts reach 193 for seven.

Pakistan faltered early in their chase after captain Babar Azam nicked Graham Hume behind to leave for a duck in the second over and Saim Ayub was caught in the first.

However, a magnificent 140-run partnership between Mohammad Rizwan (75 not out) and Fakhar Zaman (78) ended Ireland's chances of winning a historic series with one game remaining.

With 3.1 overs remaining, Azam Khan scored 30 from 10 balls to send Pakistan packing.

Azam expressed relief and gave credit to all of the batters.

"We lost a few wickets in the beginning, but we didn't let up." Because of the clouds and light rain, it was a wise choice to bowl first."

In the first match of the series, Ireland defeated Pakistan by five wickets with one ball remaining on Friday, recording their first-ever T20 victory.

In the group stage of the T20 World Cup in the United States and the West Indies, which takes place next month, Pakistan will also play Ireland.
