ISLAMABAD: On Thursday, the Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif received a communication from his colleague in Qatar that highlighted possible ways to strengthen bilateral ties.

"Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, has sent a written message to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, regarding bilateral relations and ways to support and develop them," the Qatari newswire QNA said.

Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al-Khulaifi, the visiting minister of state for foreign affairs from Qatar, delivered the message to PM Sharif. He was joined by a delegation from the Qatar Investment Authority.

In addition to offering support through the Special Investment Facilitation Council, Prime Minister Sharif stated that his government would want to see Qatar increase its investment holdings in Pakistan in priority areas.

Additionally, Dr. Al-Khulaifi made a call to Ishaq Dar, the Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister. According to the Foreign Office, the two sides discussed commercial and investment links as well as bilateral relations between Pakistan and Qatar during their discussion. They specifically focused on working together in the energy, mining, and aviation sectors.

According to the Foreign Office, the administration is adamant about upholding the law and making sure that people in charge of the unrest on May 9, 2023, are held accountable.

"We are committed to upholding our laws and to holding those responsible for the May 9 events to account, ensure public safety, and protect public property," FO spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch stated.

The US State Department emphasised the significance of ensuring the safety and security of all inmates, including Imran Khan, the former prime minister, a day earlier.

Ms Baloch responded to US worries regarding detainees by stating that Pakistan's legal system was competent to render judgements in line with the nation's laws and the Constitution, highlighting the importance of due process and justice as essential elements of the legal system.

"With regard to Pakistan's domestic laws, we do not require directions from anyone," the speaker declared.
